Dermal Fillers – Pre Care

PRE CARE DERMAL FILLERS

DISCLAIMER: You are not a candidate if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

  • Please inform your provider prior to treatment if you have a history of cold sores. The doctor will write a prescription to pre-treat to eliminate chances of you developing a cold sore post treatment.
  • Avoid blood thinners 10-14 days prior to treatment. Blood thinners can increase the risk of bruising and swelling after injections. Blood thinners are: Aspirin, Vitamin E, Gingko Biloba, Ginseng, St. John’s Wort, Omega 3/Fish Oil Supplements, Ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil, Aleve, and other NSAIDS (unless contraindicated by your physician and is medically necessary).
  • Avoid alcohol 3-7 days prior to treatment (alcohol may thin the blood and increase risk of bruising).
  • Avoid dental work, including cleanings, for 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after dermal fillers.
  • It takes about 1-2 weeks for bruising and swelling to subside, and up to 4 weeks for filler to settle. Please plan special events and occasions accordingly.
  • Be sure to have food and drink prior to injectables. This may decrease the chances of lightheadedness.
  • Begin arnica tablets 3 days before your treatment (unless you have blood pressure issues or is contraindicated by your physician).
  • Reschedule your appointment in advance if you have a rash, cold sore, or infection in the treatment area.
